Sfakia is the most southern part of Crete and Europe and belongs to the prefecture of Chania. Everyone that visits Sfakia is amazed by the natural beauty of this town. It is a place of complete relaxation and tranquility. Instead of a noisy town you can expect to find small coves, crystal clear water in sweet water beaches, gorges and exquisite food.
Of course the most popular gorges is the one of Samaria. More than a quarter million people walk through that gorge every year. The path starts from Omalos in the White Mountains and it ends at the village of Agia Roumeli. From there you can take one of the transportation boats and return to Sfakia.
